1. What is the change and how will I be informed if my order is affected?

‘Eli Lilly and Company’, the makers of the Mounjaro 2.5mg KwikPen, have collaborated with the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) to extend the product’s shelf life from 9 months to 14 months. As a result, pens in batches numbered D720751 and D720957 now have an updated expiration of 02/2025, instead of the original 09/2024. When you place an order, we will notify you of this update during the ordering process, in your treatment approval email, and by including Eli Lilly’s official letter detailing the change with your shipment.

2. What do the dates signify?

Unlike food expiry dates, medication expiration is usually shown in MM/YYYY format. The MM represents the month, indicating that the medicine remains safe to use until the month’s last day, while YYYY signifies the year. If a medicine’s expiry is marked as 02/2025, it is safe until the end of February 2025.

3. Is this medication safe to use?

Yes. Before extending an expiration date, a formal procedure is conducted between the manufacturer, Eli Lilly, and the MHRA, the government agency responsible for such matters. Approval requires evidence that patient safety and medication efficacy remain unaffected. Phlo Clinic is not involved in this process and cannot modify the expiry dates of the medications it dispenses.

4. Why does the pen still display the old date?

The decision to alter the expiration date occurred post-manufacture of the affected batches. To maintain an adequate supply, Eli Lilly is not recalling the pens to update the date. Instead, they provide an official letter confirming the change, which will accompany any orders containing pens from these batches.

5. Are other weight loss service providers impacted?

Yes, any clinical provider with supplies from the specified batches will be subject to these changes. Remember, only Eli Lilly and the MHRA can approve expiration date modifications; weight loss service providers do not have this authority.
